Do you want your home to smell amazing, but don’t want to use candles?
Do you love the fragrance candles provide, but want a safer, non-toxic alternative for your family?
That was me! I wanted my home to smell like sweet fruits and vanilla, but I needed a safer option than candles…one that wouldn’t give me anxiety every time I used it.
Then I discovered wax melts and warmers! Wax melts are the perfect solution for any candle lover who wants their home to smell good in a safe way.
What are wax melts?
Wax melts are created with the same wax that candles are made from, usually a paraffin or soy wax. Also known as wax cubes, wax bars, or wax tarts, wax melts are a fun and safe alternative to candles. You simply place the wax melts in a light bulb or hot plate warmer, and it releases scent into the air.
Why would I use wax melts instead of candles?
With wax melts, you don’t have to worry about an open flame, soot, or smoke.
When you put the wax melt into a wax warmer, the wax is not BURNING, it is simply warming up enough to melt and release the fragrance into the air.
The only thing releasing into the air with wax melts is fragrance from the fragrance oils, no soot, or smoke because there is nothing burning.
Great smelling home with no open flame? I’m in! Wax melts are the perfect option if you have kids or mischevious pets who could knock over a lit candle.
Non-toxic wax melts are safer for you, your children, pets, and your home.
My favorite wax melts by Scentsy are non-toxic and free of any unsafe chemicals, such as parabens, formaldehyde, BPA, phthalates, and any toxic oils or fragrances. Of course we don’t want our kids or pets breathing in anything toxic, so it’s important to choose wax melts that are safe for you and your family.
Funny story…
One time our power went out, so of course I pulled some candles out from underneath the cabinet and put one on the table. Would you believe my sneaky little cat went right up to the lit candle and sniffed it! We were about 1 cm away from having a fried kitty – Curiosity almost burned the cat.
With wax and warmers, I never have to worry about my cat or toddler getting hurt by the flame. I can turn my warmer on and leave the room without a worry! I also feel much better knowing they are not breathing in any toxic chemicals that are released into the air with wax melts, unlike traditional candles.
How to Use Wax Melts and Warmers
- Choose your favorite wax melt and warmer. *Here are a few styles of warmers.
- Take the wax melt and break off one or two cubes. *Here
- Turn on your warmer and place your wax cubes inside.
- Let them melt, and sit back and enjoy the fragrance!
- When you’re ready, turn off the warmer and the wax will harden again.
When do I change out my wax melts? Will the wax disappear?
Since the wax is not burning, the liquid will stay in your warmer until you remove it. You can change your wax when you don’t smell a scent anymore.
My favorite way to change the scent is to soak it up with cotton balls when the wax is still warm.
If your warmer is off and you want to change the wax, you can turn it on for a few moments and wait for the wax to loosen up. Then you can remove the wax by loosening it up with your fingers and pulling it out in one piece. It is easier to do this in some warmers than others, which is why I always recommend the cotton ball method.
Where can you buy wax melts?
You can purchase many wax melts in stores and online, though I recommend choosing wax melts that are non-toxic and safe for your home.
The first wax melts I ever tried were Scentsy wax bars, and I have been hooked ever since. I am an Independent Scentsy Consultant, so I’m biased when I say our wax melts are the best. However, all opinions are always my own, and I would never back something that I don’t believe in wholeheartedly. I wanted a safe fragrance option for my family, and Scentsy has given me that option.
I’d be happy to help you pick some Scentsy wax for your home if you send me a message here. You can also browse for wax at my online store here if you like to shop on your own.
